Epoxy Floor Paint
You obviously know the benefits associated with epoxy floor
coatings, but do you know that epoxy floor paint is also necessary if you garage floor is to retain that perfect
finish. This paint is provided in a wide variety. Epoxy floor coatings are divided into three part solutions. These
are one part paint, one part hardener and one part epoxy. These variations are provided in a bid to provide the
perfect solution for every type of surface. The floor that is to be painted using epoxy has to be properly
prepared to provide the promised results. The preparation is also part of the manufacturer’s warranty
requirements. This means that if there is no proper preparation, the warranty will be void. Preparation involves
the removal of all kinds of dirt, chemicals, grease and dust. The floor also needs to be treated with muriatic acid
for at least twenty minutes after which it has to be cleaned and left to dry.
How to ensure a perfect
finish
Epoxy floor paint is usually affected greatly by moisture and
temperature preventing a perfect shine for the finishing. This means you have to maintain temperature conditions at
around fifty to eighty degrees to ensure maximum shine once the paint dries. Very high temperatures mean that it
might dry too fast while very low temperature means it might take too long before it can finally dry hence allowing
dust or moisture to entrap itself on the surface. Humidity should be maintained at a level of less than 75% during
the application; the lesser the humidity, the better. Finally the paint needs considerable time to cure completely
before you scan start using the floor. This is usually about twenty to thirty-six hours. Full curing however should
take at least a week. After this, the floor is very resilient, which means you can bang on it, park your car or
even poor fluids such as acid without damaging it.
Why should you go for epoxy floor paint?
Apart from the obvious advantage of having a very resilient
floor finishing, using epoxy floor paint also presents huge savings. The savings are presented both as a short term
and long term benefit. The long term benefit is that once you paint the floor, there will be no need to repaint it
for a very long time. Compared to other types of paint for which you have to repaint the floor every year, this is
as huge benefit. Another major advantage is that you can apply epoxy floor paint on any type of material used in
your floor without worrying about the result. Finally, the last advantage that should influence you to use epoxy
floor paint is the price. With people trying every way to save on cost, this paint is a perfect choice as it
will only cost you a few hundred dollars to give you floor a fresh new look. The savings you make on this can be
used to handle other projects that you have.
